Global Machine Vision Interface Standards

AIA, EMVA, JIIA

In 2009, member supported trade associations began a cooperative initiative to coordinate the development of globally adopted vision standards and founded the international G3 initiative on standardization.

G3 members are:

  • AIA-Advancing Vision + Imaging (AIA)
  • European Machine Vision Association (EMVA)
  • China Machine Vision Union (CMVU)
  • Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA)
  • VDMA Machine Vision (VDMA MV)

Standards development is key to the success of the industry and its trade groups help fund, maintain, manage and promote standards.

In 2009, vision associations began a cooperative initiative to coordinate the development of globally adopted vision standards.

VDMA Machine Vision currently is actively involved in the following standardisation activities:

  • OPC UA companion specification for machine vision
  • VDI/VDE/VDMA 2632 part 3 -  'Machine vision / industrial image processing; acceptance test of classifying machine-vision systems'
  • G3 - cooperative initiative to coordinate the development of globally adopted vision standards and founded the international G3 initiative on standardization (cooperation of the American, Chinese, European and Japanese trade assocations)
